todolightinginneverland asked: I actually LOL'd at your post about answering questions, I don't even know why. So because you made me laugh I shall leave you a question. What got you into craft projects?

haha, thanks!

Hmm..I guess I’ve just been into crafty stuff since I was a kid.  I used to love doing collages and buying cross stitch kits for long car rides. I even used to go around my neighborhood trying to sell my beaded necklaces, and one time my friend and I tried to sell paper plates with pictures painted on them (wtf).

My parents have always encouraged my creative side as well. When I was young my mom and I were always doing projects for holidays.

My dad has always been really crafty too. He’s a hardcore marine, but he makes really amazing stained glass. He’s a renaissance man if I’ve ever seen one.

I guess I just never got burnt out with the idea of making stuff. IT’S TOO FUN.

Anonymous asked: what to do about glass jars? pickle ones. how to decorate, and what to put i it? :3

ahh yes :) glass jars have a billion different uses. you can go here to view a few ideas I’ve already posted. Some of those ideas use baby food jars, but you can easily substitute in pickle jars.

If none of those are up your alley, message me again and I’d be happy to find some more ideas for you.

thanks!

lydilala asked: Hi there, I really need some help! I am getting married next year and trying to do it cheaply. I want to make my own artificial roses for it and wondering could you help me find a good tutorial? Was thinking making them out of silk? Thank you!!!! <3

Hey! I can definitely help you out :) Not all of these ideas use silk, but I’m pretty confident you could substitute silk for most of the ones that use fabric.

  • First up are these felt roses. I know the brown is a little boring, but I think they’d look way prettier with another color:

(tutorial here)

  • I loooove these coffee filter roses. The colors are so gorgeous. I want to make them just to have around the house.

(tutorial here!)

  • You can make these pretty mini roses, using this video from :

  • I looove these hanging rose orbs:

They’re made with crepe paper, and look pretty simple. Not to mention they’re super pretty. (tutorial here!)

  • This is a really great tutorial for fabric rosettes. I’m sure you could use silk to make these:

(tutorial here)

  • I also really like the shape of these fabric roses. They’re fuller and not as flat as others I’ve seen:

(tutorial here!)

  • My last idea is this tutorial for Storybook Roses. They’re made from pages of a book, which I think looks really romantic:

It’d be awesome to use a book that both you and your fiance love :) (tutorial here!)

Congrats on getting married, btw! I really hope these ideas helped & inspired you.

Feel free to ask me for any other ideas! I’d love to help.

Good luck!

anchorsandglitter asked: any ideas for film canister?

heck yes I do.

Here’s a tutorial for some string lights made from film canisters:

I’m a sucker for string lights. They’re ALWAYS appropriate, and always awesome. (via)

I’m not sure if you sew, or if you know anyone who does, but this is a pretty neat idea for turning film canisters into a bobbin organizer:

(via)

If you have a buttload of film canisters lying around, you could make this AMAZING room divider:

(via)

You could thread some stamps into a film canister for a cute and simple way to organize:

(via)

If you’re into photography, film canisters are great for making makeshift flash diffusers. (I’ve used everything from milk cartons to paper towels, lol)

(via)

Oh, also! This is a fun idea for kids, or for yourself if you’re easily entertained (such as I). Film canister + alka seltzer + water = TINY ROCKET SHIP!

(via)

Okay! That’s about all I’ve got as of right now. If you want some more ideas, though, let me know and I’d be happy to do some more hunting.

Feel free to submit whatever you end up making!

xx, Alex :)

Anonymous asked: Hi, I am in the process of getting my own sewing studio and my fabrics are EVERYWHERE, any suggestions on cute storage ideas for my fabrics and all that? Thanks

I do indeed :)

This could be my favorite fabric storage idea. She uses fabric organizers that you can buy here, but you could make them pretty easily. (You can find a how-to here!)

(via girl inspired)

I really love this idea from Cut Out & Keep. It’s a fabric booklet, so you can easily keep track of what fabric you have, and how much of it you have. It’s a really great idea if you make things for friends or clients, so they can easily browse through your fabrics :)

They include a pdf download of the template, so it’s really simple!

Here’s another tutorial for a fabric rack that looks pretty handy:

(via prudent baby)

This is another one of my favorite all around DIY ideas. Using baby food jars to store pins, buttons, thread, etc:

(tutorial @ Craftiness Is Not Optional)

Also! Here’s a list of fabric storage inspiration, including this idea which I really love:

I BELIEVE those are pants hangers that are being used. I think. I see them all over the place, so I don’t think they’d be too hard to find.

I hope these ideas helped! Let me know if you need any more :)

Good luck!!

xx, Alex ^-^

Anonymous asked: hi there, i was wondering if you had any suggestions on what to do with reese's cup candy wrappers! i had a crazy habit for the last week: uncrinkling and flattening the wrappers. now i have a nice stack of wrapper sheets sitting on my desk *haha* :P thanks!

hmmmm, this was a tough one.

maybe you could make this bracelet!:

this one is made from Starburst wrappers, which I know are probably a bit more tough than Reese’s wrappers are, but you might be able to make it work if you have gentle hands and seal it with mod podge! (via)

You could also make this Valentine that has a Reese’s wrapper heart embellishment:

(via)

I hope these ideas sparked your imagination! Submit whatever you end up making. I’d love to check it out :)

mollyreina asked: Hi, I've been looking for a fairly easy cloth doll pattern/how-to. Do you know of any good ones? Thanks!

I do! I have a few suggestions:

First up are these Black Apple Dolls from Martha Stewart:

her tutorials are always pretty easy to follow, and these are super adorable :) I’ve seen tons of people use this pattern to make majorly cute dolls.

This rabbit doll is super cute as well!:

& it comes with a printable pattern. (found here)

This one is my favorite! I absolutely love these Babushka dolls. They are so sweet:

via cupcake cutie

I know it wasn’t much, but I hope these ideas helped!

Let me know if none of these work for you, and I’ll hunt around for some better tutorials :)

good luck!

Anonymous asked: What can I do with my old belts when it comes to organizing?

I have two favorite ways of organizing belts.

1) screw small hooks into the walls of your closet, door or wall (evenly spaced, in a straight line so as not to look too messy) and hang them by their buckles!

2) SHOWER RINGS! You can fit quite a few belts on one shower ring, and you can hook those shower rings onto a hanger to store in your closet!

I hope this helped! Good luck :)

Anyone else have ideas? Let me know!

Anonymous asked: this probably sounds a little silly but do you have any tutorials on things you can use a pringles can for?

haha, what’s silly is the fact that I actually have Pringles can ideas bookmarked!

  • You could cover them with patterned paper or fabric, and gift cookies in them! Like this:

I seriously can’t believe I’ve never thought of this. It seems so obvious, and so PERFECT!

(via A Thousand Words)

  • You could also cover them with (again) patterned paper or fabric, stack and glue them together and use them to organize pens/pencils/whatever:

(via Clean & Scentsbile)

  • Another idea is this super easy kaleidoscope for kids!

I loooooved kaleidoscopes when I was a kid. Shoot- I still love them.

(via The Chocolate Muffin Tree) I wanna meet that tree.

  • I really love this yarn-wrapped Pringles can as well:

I feel like it’s the perfect height to store knitting needles! Or you could cut it in half for your crochet hooks, which is what I’d do :)

There are a million other uses you could come up with too, in case you don’t knit or crochet.

(via adventures of a lady in training)

  • My last idea are these Pringles can bangles!

I’d use fabric instead of ribbon, but that’s just me.

via Craftster!

Okay, I think that’s about all I have.

Oh, also! Here’s a picture of a beaver and a platypus eating pringles:

Good luck! :)

Anonymous asked: Do you have any tutorials for men? I want to make my boyfriend something but most DIY projects seem very feminine.

I feel you! Making stuff for men can be tricky sometimes. I’ve been brainstorming like mad for ideas for my boyfriend for Valentine’s Day.

I’ve answered a couple questions like yours before, which can be found here & here.

If neither of those strike your fancy, let me know and I’ll hunt around for more specific ideas.

xx!

Anonymous asked: hey! I love your blog! I only came across it a few days ago, what is your favourite DIY blog? also, could you post some fun storage ideas, thanks

hey! thank you! :)

favorite DIY blog you say? hmm..that’s tough. I definitely don’t have just one favorite, but a really great one is A Beautiful Mess. She has a lot of awesome tutorials with gorgeous pictures. There’s a really wide variety of projects, too. The hair tutorials are so mint ♥

As for storage, the majority of what I’ve posted so far can be found under my Organizational link, which is here. But I’ll make sure to post more ideas as I find them! You can never get enough storage :)

xx, Alex.

kylex-y asked: I have scraps of scrap booking paper and fabric left over. Are there any projects that I can use these for? (together or separate, doesn't matter to me.) Thanks!

absolutely :)

you can go here to find a few of the scrap fabric ideas I’ve posted in the past.

but here are some other ideas:

this fabric scrap garland is really cute and simple. It could definitely spice up a space:

(via)

You could use the scrap paper to make this charm bracelet:

It’s really funky and unique, and I dig it quite a bit :)

(via)

Another idea is this scrap fabric wreath!

If you don’t have enough fabric to make a full sized wreath, you could always make mini wreaths which are super adawwwrable.

(via)

These Valentine’s Day bookmarks are really cool. She uses scrap fabric, but you could definitely use paper as well!

(via)

I just found this tutorial for scrap fabric headbands and necklaces, and now I NEED to make a headband. They’re awesome:

(via)

Okay, I know I stuck like…one and a half paper ideas in there (sorry!) but I hope these ideas helped, or sparked your imagination.

Let me know if you need any more ideas, and show me what you end up making! (if you want, lol)

good luck!

Anonymous asked: What's the best way to glue fabric to cardboard? Thanks!

I think Mod Podge is your best bet, but it really depends on what you’re trying to make. Let me know and I can help more! :)

Anybody have ideas?

Anonymous asked: How would you go about making your own cookie cutter?

I’ve only done it a couple times, but both times I’ve used an aluminum pan (like a lasagna pan or oven liner).

There are good tutorials here and here

Good luck! :)

My name is Alex. This is a tumblr where I will document various interweb project finds (including baking, crocheting, cooking, crafts, etc), and DIY projects of my own as well. I very rarely post things that don't include a tutorial or a how-to. Allons-y!
